Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features a total of 32 main story missions that has you play as both Miles and Peter as they protect New York from various threats old and new, including the ferocious symbiote, Venom.

With just TG88 to go until Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swings onto PC, Sony has shared details of its platform-enhanced features, as well as the hardware required to run it. According to credible rumors, Marvel’s Venom by Insomniac Games is doing well, and gamers suspect it could become a launch title for the PlayStation 6. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a singleplayer game, not featuring online play of any sort. The district of Queens has also been added to the game, expanding the map.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is confirmed to be a PS5 exclusive, and fans will not be able to play the superhero game on previous-gen hardware or on any rival platforms at launch. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC offers impressive scalability across different hardware configurations. Whether you’re running entry-level hardware or a top-of-the-line gaming rig, you can find settings that work for your setup. Including various upscaling technologies and graphics options ensures that you can fine-tune the experience to your preferences and hardware capabilities. Meanwhile, the 12-core Intel Core i K or AMD Ryzen X (or better) will be sufficient for the gaming CPU, with the RAM requirement still set at 16GB. With these specs, set your graphics preset to high, but set your ray tracing settings to very high.

New factions and units, such as flamethrower-wielding cultists that keep you at a distance, flying drones, and hunters who deploy laser grids above your head to limit aerial attacks keep you on your sticky toes. Certain enemies are weak to different types of abilities, such as electric or symbiote attacks, which also adds an enjoyable extra wrinkle to fights. It’s by no means revolutionary stuff, but a welcome added level of complexity that makes you consider which powers – or even which Spider-Man – are best for a given job. The result is a cinematic but messy experience that not only still bears all the same flaws as its predecessor, but in many areas—particularly the storytelling—feels like a step backwards. The ropiness of this PC port is a sad addition to the issues, resulting in a flawed version of an already flawed sequel.
And while the predecessor had a good bunch to contend with, the sequel adds even more villains to the mix. Shortly after the first gameplay sequence debuted, devs shared new details on Spider-Man 2’s moment-to-moment gameplay. First up, in an interview with Famitsu, Insomniac’s creative director Bryan Intihar teased the map “is about two times larger than the previous titles” thanks to the addition of Queens and Brooklyn. It’s been three years since the first Spidey game by the studio launched to critical acclaim, and the universe has only been growing since.
And, thankfully, it’s the only part of the story they actually did well. Using it to tell a tragic tale of two friends, instead of the more standard Eddie Brock story.
